"Petite Ballerina"

12"x12" Oil on Linen Canvas nfs

A dear, dear friend of mine and my husband has two cute little girls.  When I saw the photograph of their youngest in her recital garb holding the bouquet of roses to congratulate her on her first performance, I HAD to paint it!
The cuteness abounds and the expression says volumes with this one!!

For our Wedding Anniversary, my sweet husband and I celebrated with an intimate dinner
at one of Charleston's finest restaurants, the Charleston Grill
located within the Charleston Place Hotel in the heart of town.
There, we enjoyed the smooth sounds of a great Jazz group.
I couldn't resist taking their pictures to memorialize the lovely evening.

"Old Village Charm" SOLD

8"x10" Plein Air Oil on Linen Panel sold

My second plein air painting of today. . . I am inlove with this little village.  The Old Village of Mount Pleasant, SC is so charming and attractive.  While my friend and I were painting a couple visiting the area approached us as they walked their Chesapeake Retriever and we made new friends!  It's the charm of this place!

"Diggin' It"

16"x20" Oil on Linen Canvas

While at the beach plein air painting a few years ago, I brought along my son to play while I worked.  He looked so cute that I paused from my painting to snap a few shots of him.  When I returned to the studio to observe my photos this one grabbed me as if to say, "Paint Me!" and so here it is.

My heart is to convey the awesomeness of life through the innocence of children at play, especially at the beach.  Don't limit me with the innocence of "children" at play; no, what makes my heart sing is the revelation of people and families and animals living life in quiet joy.  That joyful amusement speaks volumes to me and tells the story of the sweet essence of Life in the midst of turmoil and chaos.  I choose to see the beauty and the Love and the Joy of Life; which is, after all, a choice.  I want to point to It in my paintings and remind the viewer what Life is really all about.  I hope that it brings ultimate joy to you as it does to me.

Camp Merrie-Woode is an all girls summer camp which holds promise of memory-making activities and friends.  Overlooking the entire camp grounds is a granite-faced mountain named, "Old Bald."
The day in which parents drop off their campers is a very exciting one.  Parents and campers arrive in the early hours before the "Pearly Gates" open to usher the new session and wait at what is known as the "drop off site."  The iconic and gigantic Old Bald is the first to welcome you and waits along with you from across the expanse of Lake Fairfield.
This will mark my daughter's fourth session at Camp Merrie-Woode and I can say from experience that it doesn't matter how many times one has been here, the excitement of beginning a new session at Camp Merrie-Woode never lessens the feeling of great Anticipation.

"The Path Which Leads Me Home" SOLD

12"x12" Plein Air Oil on Linen Panel sold

On location at the Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, I stood near the Ashley River which would have been traditionally the "front door" of the Magnolia Home.  This path leads visitors from the river up to the house.  These enormous reaching Water Oaks provide lovely shade along the path which is also dotted by colorful azalea bushes.
