"Spring in the Old Village" SOLD

10"x10" Oil on Linen Panel, Painted en plein air, alla prima on location in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant, SC.   sold at the Red Cross Home & Garden Tour Fundraising Event in the Old Village

This Old Village property is a favorite destination that our painting group derives heaps of inspiration. Sally's home and gardens always promise to deliver on beauty and color with each passing season!

I may go in to this a bit more and if I do I will repost so you can see the progress.

"Charleston Bridal Boutique" SOLD

11"x14" Oil on Linen Panel   sold

This was painted en Plein Air on location on Church Street of one of the finest Bridal Boutiques downtown; Fabulous Frocks.  Its location is so picturesque it begged to be painted.

SOLD at the Hagan Fine Art Gallery & Studio

"All in a Line"

10"x10" oil on linen birch board panel, painted en plein air, alla prima on location.

This was the first of two paintings I did while at this location.  The tide was higher when I painted this one than in the second painting revealing the tops of the skinny sand bars and oyster beds neatly lined up together.

"Oyster Beds"

8"x8" Oil on Gessoed Cradled Wood, painted en plein air, alla prima, on site

Another beautiful day to paint with friends on the creeks of Sullivan's Island.  The outgoing tide revealed these "tiny island" oyster beds and I loved the texture it added to the water's surface.

"Cloud Parade" SOLD

6"x8" Oil on Linen Birch Board Panel, painted en plein air, alla prima on location  SOLD

The clouds often "show off" for you on coast of the Lowcountry. And this day did not disappoint. The colors were vibrant.  The little oyster beds lined up to watch as the clouds passed by with the wind.

"Shem Creek Studio"

8"x6" Oil on Linen Panel board, painted en plein air, alla prima, while on location

One of my dear artist friends with whom I paint is lucky enough to call this little red-roofed cottage her Artist's Studio.  The invitation to paint this sweet, quirky iconic Shem Creek shack produced this little guy.

"Beach to Bridge"

6"x8" Oil on Linen Panel, painted en plein air, alla prima on site

This was a quick little plein air painting I did while on the beach at Fort Moultrie on Sullivan's Island.  The view reaches across the beach stretching down toward the point of Sullivan's Island facing downtown. Way off in the distance one can see the new Ravenel Bridge.

This was such a quick little "sketch" that I feel it is a bit unfinished. . . if I do anything else to this, I will be sure to repost its image.

SOLD "While on Vacation. . . "

24"x30" Oil on Canvas  SOLD

While visiting my husband's childhood home on vacation we stopped to play on the beach and I snapped a few pictures and this one inspired me to paint!

Playing Catch Up! New & Old Paintings

My apologies that I haven't posted my Plein Air Paintings lately. . . 2016 is proving to be a very busy year so far!

The following images are paintings I have painted in various locations around Charleston, SC. One painting is an (unfinished) interior painting from a cold day in February of my friend's beautiful new home. In fact, all of these are "sketches" that are each "unfinished" and those I plan to go back into to finish up.  I'll repost as I complete each one.

Thanks for your continued faithful following of my blog and painting posts.

"Creek's Low Tide" 9"x12" Oil on Linen Panel, painted en Plein Air, Alla Prima, on site at the boat landing at Station 26 on Sullivan's Island, SC

I can't wait to finish the lower right corner of this piece. . . I really enjoyed painting this one.  It is titled, "New Sanctuary" 9"x12" Oil on Linen Panel, painted on location and all at once (Alla Prima) in my dear friend's new home. . . the sweet peace that you feel in here is so evident and it was my hope that I captured the atmosphere here.  The interior's cool, fresh, calm tones against the warm sunlight coming in through the windows captured me! I'll be sure to repost when I complete this painting!
