"Lush Bouquet" SOLD
The Charleston Artist Collective is a great online gallery to find little gems from some of Charleston's finest artists. Each month the artists decide on a Theme by which they create their artwork, and with every art sale 10% goes to benefit a local charity. "Lush" is March's theme and the charity is the Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Center.

"Fancy Rooster"
This was painted for a fund-raiser for my daughter's school. These Roosters and hens are so fun to paint. I may be posting more soon.
"Window Sill & Apples"
It was a bit too cold to paint en Plein Air this week so I decided to stay in the studio to catch up on some work. I had these apples sitting on the window sill and loved the way they looked in the sunshine. If nothing else, it was a fun painting to paint. Again, I may re-post this image. In reality, the apples are much softer where the color/temperature transitions are.

Last week's plein air painting was a bit on the chilly side. Here is a little painting I did from a completely different vantage point. . . a fun, new discovery.

"Through The Trees" NFS
Painted En Plein Air, Alla Prima on location on Sullivan's Island, SC. These are three of several Palmetto Trees out in front of the visitor center of Fort Moultrie. I stood at the fork in the road between Stella Maris Church and Fort Moultrie.
Wow, was it cold out there today!! But, Yay Us, who all showed up to brave the near freezing temperatures and wind chills. The sun was bright and the sky was clear and the air was so fresh; it was a beautiful day to be out painting!
"Passages" is February's Charleston Artist Collective's Theme. "Through The Trees" will be in that collection.
"How'D Do, Ladies"
While in the North Carolina mountains, I was painting at a farm surrounded by the most comical chickens and roosters. Their personalities really shine and this rooster was the headliner! In this picture I took, he looked as though he were "tipping his hat" to the chickens as he walked by them strutting all around the yard. Hence, the title, "How'D Do, Ladies."

"Red Tin Roof - Shem Creek Study"
Our painting group went back to Shem Creek and the weather could not have been more pleasant. The sun was so warm on this mid-January day on the water that you didn't really need a jacket. I wanted to capture as loosely as possible another view from my last visit. The photograph's color is off a bit, but I hope it conveys what I was trying to say.

"Calm At The Docks"
This painting started out as a plein air painting on location at Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant, SC. However, it was so incredibly cold that it made my fingers numb. I painted as much information as I could, and it was nearly finished, when I could no longer move my hands and hold a paint brush. I just finished it up in the studio. I want to go back there and try another one. . . the day I was here, at Shem Creek, it was so beautiful! The lavender and warm yellow colors of the sky show that there were indeed frozen crystals in the atmosphere . . . all from that freezing cold air!
"Girl Talk"
I snapped this shot while at a farm in the mountains of North Carolina near Cashiers. The personalities of the hens and roosters were comical! That rooster was strutting around like he owned the place and the hens seemed so taken by his swagger and charm.
"Merrie-Woode Morning II" SOLD
Camp Merrie-Woode is a girls' camp in the mountains of North Carolina. This was a commission for a former camper whose two little girls are carrying on the family tradition there. This painting was painted after a plein air painting I did while I was actually standing in this spot. However, that painting has long been sold. We changed it a little bit by taking one of the sail boats out and breaking up the fore and middle grounds.

"Patiently Awaiting - Portrait of Brooke"
Such a beautiful little girl. . . she looks just like her Momma. In memory of a beautiful, yet short life; Brooke shined like the sun in the lives of those who knew her. She awaits, patiently, in Heaven for the rest of us to join that glorious Light. Merry Christmas.
